1./ echo
he leaned out i was watching his face as he talked/he turned to you i saw
his eyes flick past me a few seconds at a time he shook your hand touched your
arm as he left i waived at him appropriately i kind of smirked it didn't seem like
the right thing to do
you said 'so that's who i keep talking about. what did you
think?'
and i says i says 'oh he's all right. he's one of those guys though, isn't he?'
i look at you for approval of a vague statement
some proof that you know me past
words
'hah,' you say
then i say 'he seemed kind of like he was always worried. he seemed kind of contrived actually. i wouldn't trust him if i was in your shoes.'
i am going overboard to hide the cynicism i'd let slip out
backpeddle faster
'you're silly' you say
'he talked like a liar.' i say and really just want to erase the moment it slides
'hah,' you say again and just smile now
'what's that about?' i have to ask, pointing at your
face and you say
'haha. i wanted you
to meet him because he reminds
me of you.'

2./ (untitled)
we were walking under
echo pass chewing on the morning there was
stained glass in our mouths holy holy
when i was alone i wanted a second opinion
and i took the one you
offered as my own

3./ least favourite dream city
i can't see any landmarks yet but when i am here i know that i am here.
when they drop me and i wake-down into this place
covered in rust and always night and i
know the whole of it like the dreamback of my hand without streets or signs (the whole thing one big asphalt steel yawn like forever big city outskirts too unlucky to be exactly suburbs or urbs.). it crawls my skin, the whole of it. a place without children or electricity and all the men and women cry, monsters with treestump bodies. hard and mottled and crooked, and wet round spider eyes. busted teeth through strange fur mouths all of 'em and they weep toward me when they see me like i am a sudden piece of light. they shake me by my shoulders and tell me i am home.

~Believer, believe it or not, you'll know,
When it ends and how it goes~
thanks for this wonderful piece.
I really liked the first section.
I wasn't sure where you were going with it, but when I reached the end:
"'haha. i wanted you
to meet him because he reminds
me of you.'"
I gasped out loud and giggled a bit... and then felt bad because its not really funny.
